With the view to provide a legal framework for enhancing the collaboration in the area of public sector auditing, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia and the Office of the Auditor General of Norway have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in Auditing in Public Sector.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Anwar Nasution of Indonesia and Jørgen Kosmo of Norway in Oslo on 5 November 2008. The MoU between both countries includes the encouragement and promotion of technical cooperation in among others: expertise and experience exchange on information relevant to audit; organization of a joint research projects on audits; dissemination and information sharing through consultation, seminar, and conference; as well as information and expertise sharing on audit policies and technology through training or exchange of visit.
During the signing of the MoU, Prof. Dr. Anwar Nasution conveyed in his remark that Indonesia since 1997 has adopted severe measures to curb corruption and these efforts have been resulting in significant achievements.
Prof. Nasution expressed his wish that the signing of the MoU between the two countries would lead to closer collaboration as well as more intense lesson learned sharing in different issues relating to auditing. In his remarks, Kosmo stated that Norway put great emphasis on the efforts in preserving environment, enhancing the quality of public health, and combating poverty.
Norway also put high priority in boosting international cooperation under the United Nations’ framework. Kosmo believed that Indonesia had shared the same strong commitment in addressing international issues.
After the signing of the MoU, Prof. Dr. Anwar Nasution presented a presentation on “Combating Corruption in Indonesia since 1997”. The presentation was attended by members of the Office of Auditor General of Norway, as well as International Organization of Supreme Audit Institution (INTOSAI).
