The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has been conducting the Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship (IACS) since 2003, to increase cultural cooperation and promotion and in particular to establish Friends of Indonesia abroad. Up to 2013, the program has been followed by 518 alumni from 55 different countries.
The program serves to demonstrate Indonesia’s commitment in advancing social culture cooperation as well as to encourage better understanding amongst participants from different countries. The program is also purposed to cultivate a cultural of cooperation, which emerges from direct contact and sharing of cultures amongst each other. During the program, participants has been able to deepen their understanding of Indonesian arts and culture, among others by living within or around arts center in which they are designated to, allowing also the chance to experience local heritage and interact with local community.
The Ministry is now opening the IACS 2014 program and will accept 70 participants for a 14 weeks program during 11 March to 22 June 2014. The opening will be conducted on 11 or 12 March 2014, followed by introductory program in Jakarta on 12 – 16 March 2014. Participants will then follow a training program at one of the designated art centers, on 17 March – 14 June 2014. The program will be closed with Indonesia Channel 2014 program, which will be held on Saturday, 21 June 2014 in Yogyakarta.
Interested candidates should submit their application to the Embassy of Indonesia in Oslo, by 22 January at the latest. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia will cover all costs for the participants, including return tickets (economy class), full board accommodation (throughout the program), training costs at the workshop, living costs for 3 months, medical insurance (limited), and fees for visa extension in Indonesia.
